Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body. These points are believed to correspond to pathways (meridians) through which energy (qi) flows. The goal of acupuncture is to balance the flow of qi and restore health by stimulating these points.

From a modern perspective, acupuncture is seen as a technique that may stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. This stimulation can increase blood flow, trigger the release of natural painkillers (endorphins), and promote overall well-being.

Acupuncture is used to treat a variety of conditions, including pain (such as headaches and arthritis), nausea, insomnia, anxiety, and many others. It is often combined with other treatments as part of a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Key aspects of acupuncture include its holistic approach, individualized treatment based on diagnosis, and the belief in promoting the body's natural healing abilities through the regulation of qi.
